Pope”s previous work on ITV drama includes the critically-acclaimed Cilla, which won several awards and nominations including a nod from the BAFTAs. He has also been responsible for productions such as Cradle to Grave, The Widower, Mrs Biggs, Philomena, Appropriate Adult and many more.
Most recently he has been working as executive producer on The Moorside Project, a two-part drama with Sheridan Smith which filmed earlier this year and which looks at the real-life disappearance in 2008 of Yorkshire schoolgirl Shannon Matthews as seen through the eyes of the local community.
Liverpool”s profile as a filming hub has never been higher: the city recently announced record figures showing a huge rise in the amount of filming days over the last year, with 257 feature and TV projects choosing to film there in 2015.
The city has a dedicated film office and its grand civic buildings can easily double for architecture around the world.
An example of this will be seen in Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them when it opens in November – the Warner Bros. feature filmed its only non-studio work in Liverpool, doubling it for New York City and used locations including St George”s Hall and the Cunard Building.
