Mother takes a jumbo to NYC
The latest ad for MoneySuperMarket has been released, and it’s a jumbo spot!
In the commercial, from creative agency Mother, we meet Graeme, who is so chuffed with the savings he has made through using the brand, he takes to the streets of New York City on the back of a huge elephant, dancing to the 80s hit ‘Word Up’.
Both the 15ft high African bull elephant and the erstwhile Graeme have a distinctly smug air as they sway and wiggle through the city streets at night.
Smuggler is the production company behind Epic Elephunk with post handled by MPC. Guy Shelmerdine directed. (It made its debut during ITV’s The Zoo on Sunday, 10 August).
Mother creative directors Kyle Harman-Turner and Martin Rose said: “Our ambition was simple: to make the most epic MoneySuperMarket film yet. To achieve that we turned to some key ingredients. We took the badass swagger of Samuel L Jackson in Pulp Fiction, the strut of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, a sprinkle of Michael Jackson in Billie Jean, served with the Single Ladies attitude of Beyoncé – and channelled them all into a 15ft African bull elephant and a slightly fat bloke from Coventry. We still can’t believe that we get paid to do this for a living.”
Below is the ad itself along with a making of video.
