Cheryl Taylor Takes The Helm At CBBC
Cheryl Taylor has been appointed as the new Controller of CBBC – the BBC”s children”s channel for 6-12 year olds.
Currently the BBC’;s Controller for Comedy Commissioning, Taylor has championed hit series including Miranda, Rev, Twenty Twelve, Outnumbered and White Van Man.
Director BBC Children”s, Joe Godwin, said: “I”m delighted to welcome Cheryl to the Department. She brings so much commissioning and production experience, in the BBC and the indie sector, to the CBBC role – one of the most exciting and important commissioning roles in children”s media.”
Taylor added: “I feel very privileged to be moving from a brilliant job in Comedy to an equally fabulous one at CBBC. The Channel is a leading light in the world of children”s television and generates imaginative and inspiring shows with the highest creative standards. I look forward to collaborating with our dedicated and passionate teams both in-house and the indie sector and building on their great work to date.”
During her career, Taylor has been Head of Comedy at Hat Trick Productions and a commissioning editor at Channel 4. In her new post she will be based in Salford, where she is already located because of her comedy commissioning role.
