Wounded Servicemen Climb Everest For ITV1
Â
ITV1 has commissioned a new documentary, launched by Prince Harry, in which a team of wounded servicemen take on the world’;s highest mountain, Mt. Everest.
Â
Produced by Twofour Broadcast, Harry’;s Mountain Heroes will follow a five-strong team of wounded servicemen as they face the altitude, extreme climate and sheer hard work of summiting the mountain. The documentary also covers Prince Harry’;s role as Patron of Walking With The Wounded, the charity organising the expedition, as he spearheaded the launch of the Everest expedition.
Â
Speaking at the launch of the Everest expedition, Prince Harry said: “To give yourself a challenge of such a magnitude as climbing Everest is remarkable, and what these guys are proving is no matter what your injury, no matter whether you’;re military or civilian, you can overcome all sorts of illness mental or physical.”
Â
Harry’;s Mountain Heroes was commissioned for ITV by Diana Howie, Factual Commissioning Editor and Alison Sharman, Director of Factual and Daytime. The programme is executive produced by Bridget Sneyd and Melanie Leach and produced and directed by Alexis Girardet. Commenting on the production, Howie said: “The innate drama and emotion of this journey, along with the personal involvement of Prince Harry, creates a moving and very real story of triumph over adversity, offering compelling viewing for our audience on ITV1”.
