Island Pictures Unveils Du Maurier Adaptation

 

Island Pictures, Dominic Minghella and Sarah Beardsall”s indie production company, has gone into production on a feature-length version of Daphne du Maurier’;s 1957 suspense novel The Scapegoat.
 
ITV and Content Media Corporation have provided financial backing for the film, a psychological thriller about a man who meets his perfect double and takes over his life. The film will premiere on ITV1 in April 2012, followed by a worldwide theatrical distribution to be managed by Content Media.
 
The film stars Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters) and Eileen Atkins (Cranford, Cold Mountain). The screenplay is by Charles Sturridge, who will also direct the film. The film, which will shoot on location in London in November 2011, will be produced by Beardsall (casting: Talented Mr. Ripley, The Parent Trap) and Minghella (Robin Hood, Doc Martin).
