Jim Broadbent and Martin Freeman to star in BBC’s Ghost Story for Christmas
The supernatural festive staple will be produced by Adorable Media
Jim Broadbent (Bridget Jones) and Martin Freeman (Sherlock) are to lead this year’s BBC2 drama Ghost Story for Christmas from Mark Gatiss. The supernatural festive staple will this year be based on Charles Dickens’ The Bride’s Chamber and will be produced by Adorable Media.
The 2026 edition will also star Adrian Scarborough (The Chelsea Detective), Joe Armstrong (Happy Valley), India Fowler (The Agency) and Lewis Shepherd (Dear England), telling the tale of a spurned suitor who manipulates a young woman and marries her to claim her fortune.
The producer for Adorable Media is Isibéal Ballance and the commissioning editor is Mark Bell. It follows E.F. Benson’s The Room in the Tower last year, E. Nesbit’s Woman of Stone in 2024, and Arthur Conan Doyle’s Lot No. 249 the year before that.
