Mark Gatiss drama Bookish returns for another chapter
UKTV greenlights third series
Mark Gatiss’ detective drama Bookish is returning to U&Alibi for a third series, plus a two-part Christmas special.
The third instalment of Bookish will air in 2027 as a 6 x 70-minute series, set in post-war London. The drama follows appropriately named bookseller Gabriel Book who, in his other life, helps police to solve strange crimes. Book is played by Gatiss, who is also the creator and writer.
In addition to the third series, viewers will also be treated to a two-part (2 x 60 minutes) Christmas special Bookish: The Crown of Destiny, which will see Book open the doors of his shop Books on Archangel Lane for a new, seasonal mystery.
Bookish is produced by Eagle Eye Drama, part of ITV Studios, in association with Happy Duck Films. It is supported by the Belgian Tax Shelter. Beta Film is handling world sales as international distributor, with PBS Distribution holding North American rights.
It was commissioned by Helen Perry, head of drama commissioning for UKTV, and ordered by Emma Tibbetts, director of programming – scripted, and Hilary Rosen, director of commissioning.
Further details on guest stars and storylines for the third series will come in due course.
