Upcoming BBC1 health format lands YouTube spin-off
Nutopia to produce second Clickbait Clinic title hosted by Stacey Dooley and Dr Alex George
Nutopia has landed a YouTube spin-off of its upcoming BBC1 health series Clickbait Clinic with Stacey Dooley.
Nutopia was revealed as the producer of the BBC1 format in September last year and is now set to also produce six-part Clickbait Clinic Q&A (w/t) for the Google video platform.
The main series will be hosted by Stacey Dooley, with Dr Alex George and Dr Nighat Arif offering their expertise as she explores viral health trends and crazes.
Dooley and George will also present the spin-off, taking on questions from their online audience. They will team up with creators including RuPaul’s Drag Race star Paige Three, fitness influencer Lily Lifts, beauty and content creator Tennessee Thresher, and YouTube creator SV2 to explore the science behind the internet’s latest claims.
Dooley said: “My feed, like so many others, is constantly filled with health hacks and tips claiming to have the answers to some of our biggest health questions.
“I’ve always wondered where these come from, and I’m excited to do some digging with Dr Alex and find out what’s really behind them.”
George added: “Social media can be a brilliant tool for sharing health content, but it can also leave us with a lot of questions. I see these trends and claims appearing in my own feed too, and I’m excited to explore some of the biggest questions people are asking online with Stacey and look at the science behind them.”
The exec producers of Clickbait Clinic Q&A (w/t) are Tom Williams, Jane Root and Simon Willgoss, with Caroline McCool as executive in charge of production. Anna McVey is the series producer, and Liam Bagnall is the series director.
It was ordered by BBC head of digital development Mariel Capisciolto with specialist factual head Jack Bootle and digital commissioner Denise Mather.
Clickbait Q&A (w/t) will debut on BBC YouTube and iPlayer later this year.
