Clapperboard Studios is making its US drama debut with a romance series for Hallmark Media, co-produced by Dynamic Television.

Six-part Paris Is Always a Good Idea was originated and developed by Dynamic Television, which will also handle the worldwide distribution outside of the States.

It follows a workaholic young woman Chelsea Martin, who travels to Paris with her confident rival-turned-ally, Jason for work. However, a heartfelt message from her late mother and nudge from her sister sends her on an emotional, life-changing journey across Europe to reconnect with the three men she fell in love with during her gap year, seven years ago.

The drama stars Lacey Chabert as Chelsea and Scott Michael Foster as Jason, with Rebecca Hanssen also appearing. It is adapted from the novel of the same name by Jenn McKinlay.

The series is shooting on location in Paris and Spain and will premiere later this year.

“Paris Is Always a Good Idea has heart, humor, and a story that travels, everything we look for in a global romance,” said Carrie Stein, president of global scripted television at Dynamic Television.

“We’re excited to work with Clapperboard Studios on a project that feels distinctly Hallmark and offers strong worldwide appeal.”

The exec producers for Paris Is Always A Good Idea are Carrie Stein, Daniel March, Mike Benson, Rachel Gesua, Heidi Cole McAdams, and Lauren Muir, who also serves as showrunner. The series is written by Heidi McAdams and Muir.

Gesua, Clapperboard senior exec producer, said: “We are delighted to be co-producing the screen adaptation of Paris Is Always a Good Idea with the brilliant team at Dynamic Television.

“It’s Clapperboard’s first show for Hallmark and we’re telling a truly global story, filled with fun, joy and heart. You’ll want to be on the journey with our main character Chelsea as she travels to Paris, Dublin, Boston and Spain to find love.”
