Sky hires former Top Gear showrunner to lead on SNL UK

Lisa Clark joins under Phil Edgar-Jones’ unscripted ents team

Sky has appointed former Top Gear Showrunner Lisa Clark to lead on Saturday Night Live UK (SNL UK).

As commissioning executive she will work with the unscripted entertainment team under Phil Edgar-Jones to help shape the series.

Clark has served as executive producer on hit shows including BBC2’s Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, Top Gear and Daisy May & Charlie Cooper’s NightWatch, as well as major live broadcasts such as the BAFTA TV Awards and Comic Relief.

Her producer credits include podcast My Dad Wrote A Porno, BBC2’s Shooting Stars, League of Gentlemen Live Again and Vic & Bob’s Big Night Out. She has held senior roles at BBC Entertainment and was head of comedy at LWT.

Edgar-Jones, who is executive director of unscripted originals at Sky, said: “The SNL UK team are made up of the very best producers, writers, and department heads in the industry, so I am thrilled to have landed a true TV legend in Lisa Clark as Sky’s commissioning executive. Lisa has an incredible track record working collaboratively with some of the finest comedy talent in the business and will be a huge asset to the production.”

Clark added: “This is an incredible team to be a part of. I have always loved the thrill of live television and there is no greater stage for live comedy than SNL.”

James Longman is the lead producer, Liz Clare is the director and Daran Jonno Johnson is the head writer.

The show will be produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio’s UK production team and Broadway Video. Shanna Baynard will serve as executive in charge of production with Andy Charles Smith as lead producer for UTAS UK Productions alongside Sam Salter, production executive.

SNL UK will launch on Sky and streaming service Now with more details on the show’s cast, hosts, musical guests and premiere date to be announced soon.
