Six-part thriller Forever Home is co-produced by FilmNation Entertainment and The Mediapro Studio

5 is lining up a drama based on broadcaster and comedian Graham Norton’s novel Forever Home.

Produced by FilmNation Entertainment and The Mediapro Studio, the six-part thriller follows the story of a second wife dealing with the memories of the woman who went before her. When Carol discovers a long-dead body hidden in her basement, she realises she is living with a killer.

Norton will exec produce the series, which Clara Salman has adapted from his 2023 novel. It is the second of his books to be turned into a TV series, following Happy Prince’s 2022 adaptation of his debut novel, Holding.

“I was initially inspired by the simple idea of packing up a home later in life, and the “what if” scenarios and complexities that come with later-life relationships,” said Norton.

“The novel soon evolved into a funny, twisted, ‘dark-romp’ full of farcical scenes and it’s wonderful to see the depth and richness of Carol’s story realized as a screenplay.”

Confirmed cast include Amy Nuttall, Douglas Henshall, Denise Welch, Kevin Whately, Samantha Bond, Lewis Cope, Jenny Walser, Shane Zaza and James Baxter.

The production will be supported by the North East Production Fund and North East Screen.

Forever Home was commissioned for 5 by deputy chief content officer and head of scripted for Paramount UK Sebastian Cardwell and commissioning editor Paul Testar.

Alongside Norton, Kirstie Macdonald will exec produce the series having developed the project for FilmNation Erika, while Kennair and JC Acosta exec on behalf of The Mediapro Studio. Will Nicholson is producer and Paul Gay and Claire Winyard are directing the series.

The Mediapro Studio will manage international distribution for the series.

Forever Home will be filmed in Northumberland and is the 15th project to be supported by North East Screen’s North East Production Fund, which has invested £2.37m in production to date.

North East Screen operations director Gayle Woodruffe said: “The North East is fast becoming a hub of TV production and our Film Office and Skills teams have been working closely with the production team to pull together amazing local crew and companies and offer some outstanding opportunities to work in TV.”

Forever Home is set to air in 2026.
