Exclusive: Amazon MGM’s new Jack Ryan feature, starring John Krasinski, has a studio base at The Story Works in Mortlake, south-west London and will shoot largely on location in the capital and environs.

Shooting on the film has been split into two key international locations, with the first tranche filming in Dubai. Dubai Media Council tweeted a couple of weeks ago that filming had wrapped in the emirate, with Krasinski thanking all involved on social media.

Andrew Bernstein directs the as-yet-untitled film, that is an extension of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, an original series from Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance and Paramount Television of which four series have dropped to date.

The Story Works recently housed hefty Disney+ period drama A Thousand Blows; the series was filmed at the studio from March to December 2023 and used a large standing set to portray the docks and back streets of Victorian east London.

The studio was developed on the 22-acre site of a riverside brewery, and founded by British TV and film producers Simon Vaughan and Damian Keogh, Kwame Kwei-Armah, Jonathan Norman and independent Hollywood studio, FIFTH SEASON (formerly known as Endeavor Content).

At the time of the official launch in April 2024, Keogh said: “As producers we have spent the last two years road testing this unique, romantic, historic site and it has been rewarding for all involved. Cast and crew, so many of whom live nearby, have been able to live balanced lives whilst delivering their very best work.

“The space is substantial and flexible, but it has a magic quality due to its heritage that has captured all of our imaginations. We can’t wait to welcome new projects to this special home from home.”
