Guy Ritchie directs The Donovans in the UK for Paramount+
The ten-part Paramount+ drama will shoot in London locations
Guy Ritchie is back in the director’s chair for Paramount+ series The Donovans; Anthony Byrne will also be at the helm for some of the episodes. Written by Ronan Bennett, the ten-part drama is inspired by the original US crime series Ray Donovan (starring Liev Schreiber) and will focus on the Donovan family, who are London’s most elite fixers catering to powerful European clients.
Bennett stated at the time of the commissioning news,”I’m thrilled to be working with Showtime, Paramount+ and 101 Studios. We’re going to deliver a show which provides massive thrills, entertainment and a huge rush of adrenaline for audiences around the world.”
Filming gets underway this week (w/c 4 November) in various London locations and at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden. The production is a collaboration between Paramount+, 101 Studios, and MTV Entertainment Studios and is executively produced by Guy Ritchie, Ronan Bennett, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin and Ivan Atkinson.
“We’re elated to partner with Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios to reimagine the Ray Donovan legacy together. Having Guy and Ronan sign on to join us on this incredible journey has been a true blessing,” commented David C. Glasser, CEO of 101 Studios, at the time of the announcement.
Ritchie has just completed work on Young Sherlock, starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin, and has the second series of The Gentlemen lined up.
