The closure will not affect shows already booked in for this year and next.

Pinewood Studios has announced the closure of its television department following an internal review.

The iconic studios have been best-known for feature films over the years, but the TV department – comprising three studio spaces – has hosted a range of light entertainment productions such as RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars, Would I Lie To You, Taskmaster and Hypothetical.

The closure will take effect from 2025, but existing TV shows booked in for the rest of this year and all of next, will be honoured. The statement also emphasised that the change will not affect “any other film or TV productions at Pinewood’s sites” and went on to say that a consultation process has begun with colleagues impacted by the closure.

The statement ended: “We are very proud of the work the TV team has delivered over the years, having hosted many major titles for the UK’s broadcasters.”
