The open casting is for residents of UK and Ireland.
HBO’s up coming Harry Potter TV series has issued an open casting call, looking for children to play the leads of Harry, Hermione and Ron.
The call reveals more about the planned production schedule, stating the children must be 9-11 in April 2025, with dates quoted as ‘2025-2026’. The submissions deadline is 31 October this year; the casting directors are committed to ‘inclusive, diverse casting’ according to the wording on the Cast It website.
The first round of casting calls for two self-taped videos, with the first being a short poem, story, monologue or book excerpt, but nothing from Harry Potter, to be performed in the applicant’s own accent in no more than 30 seconds. The second video to be submitted, at a maximum of one minute, is to be the auditionee talking about themselves, their home, family, pets etc.
The HBO Original series is produced by HBO, Bronte Film & Television and Warner Bros. Television, with Mark Mylod attached to direct. Francesca Gardiner is showrunner; the executive producers are Ruth Kenley-Letts, JK Rowling, David Heyman, Neil Blair, Mylod and Gardiner.
