ITV stands out at Edinburgh TV Awards
ITV1 scoops channel of the year as Mr Bates is named best drama.
ITV has been the standout winner at the Edinburgh TV Awards, landing both the prestigious channel of the year and best drama awards.
Mr Bates vs The Post Office took home best drama series and scooped another nod as Monica Dolan was named best actress for her role as post mistress Jo Hamilton.
The BBC and Channel 4 each picked up numerous awards, with BBC1’s The Traitors taking home best entertainment series for a second year running, and its producer Studio Lambert named Production Company of the Year.
The BBC also won Best Documentary for Once Upon a Time in Northern Ireland and Best Popular Factual Series for Sort Your Life Out, while iPlayer landed the title of Best On Demand Service.
Best comedy series went to Jack Rooke’s Channel 4 returner Big Boys, while Bridget Christie was named best actor – comedy for her performance in Channel 4’s The Change.
Russell Brand: In Plain Sight indie Hardcash was named small indie of the year while Banijay UK was named production group of the year.
Disney+ took home best international drama for The Bear, while the outstanding achievement award went to presenter of ITV’s The Martin Lewis Money Show, Martin Lewis.
The Edinburgh TV Festival’s head of awards Bianca Newby said: “Despite the challenges faced by our industry, the resilience and innovation showcased in every entry are truly inspiring. This year’s nominees and winners exemplify the power of storytelling and the unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries, even in the toughest of times.”
