Production begins on Big Boys Series 2
A six-week shoot gets underway this week (w/c 1 May) on the second series of Big Boys, Roughcut’s coming-of-age comedy for Channel 4.
Jack Rooke is the writer/creator of the show; Ash Atalla and Alex Smith executive produce for Roughcut.
The series is set in 2013 and told from the point of view of first-year university student Jack, played by Dylan Llewellyn (and loosely based on Rooke’s own experiences), as he recovers from his father’s death. Jon Pointing co-stars as his friend, mature student Danny.
When the recommission was announced last year, Rooke said: “The response to Big Boys series 1 has been so phenomenally kind, heartwarming and beyond anything any of us could have hoped for, the fact we got onto Gogglebox is probably the proudest moment of mine and my mum’s lives (she got over 100 likes on Facebook for it!)”
Head of comedy at Channel 4, Charlie Perkins, added: “I’m so happy to confirm that Big Boys is returning. This is one of my first commissions as Head of Comedy at Channel 4 and it fits squarely into what I think makes the greatest comedy; so much heart blended with so much silliness. Jack is a very special person. I can’t wait for what’s to come in series two.”
