Filming begins on Jean Charles de Menezes drama
The latest drama from seasoned writer and exec producer Jeff Pope has begun filming in London for Disney+.Â
Â
The limited series, Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes (w/t) is produced by Pope’s Etta Pictures, part of ITV Studios.
Paul Andrew Williams directs, Kwadjo Dajan produces and Disney’s Lee Mason is executive producer.Â
Â
The drama is set in the immediate aftermath of London bombings in 2005, and centres on the manhunt for a group of would-be terrorists and the tragic killing of innocent Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes, after he is mistaken as a suspect.
De Menezes’ parents and other relatives are among those serving as consultants for the series.
Â
Pope is well-known for his dramatisations based on real-life events and people: his four-part series about Jimmy Savile is currently airing on BBC One and his biopic of Cary Grant, Archie, is due to tx on ITV soon.Â
