A shiny new Netflix thriller begins filming in Scotland this week.

Department Q is an adaptation of the Danish crime thrillers by Jussi Adler-Olsen about Carl Morck, a former top detective consumed with guilt after a terrible attack that left his partner paralysed.

When Carl returns to work he is assigned to a cold case that takes over his life…

The novels have already been turned into a lengthy film series in Denmark, and been translated into multiple languages.

The hefty 8 x 60’ run is produced by Left Bank Pictures for Netflix, and has been written by Chandni Lakhani, known for Vigil, Black Mirror and Dublin Murders. The production has its base at a Scottish studio. PI subscribers can log in for more details on the studio and key HoDs on board.

Left Bank is also gearing up to film the eighth and final series of Outlander, the fantasy time-travel drama for Starz, adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s novels.
