Rami Malek films Amateur in the UK
Filming begins today, 2 June, on Amateur, a shiny new thriller staring Rami Malek and directed by James Hawes.
The feature centres on CIA cryptographer Charles Heller (Malek) whose wife is killed during a terrorist attack in London.
When his bosses refuse to seek out the perpetrators, Heller blackmails them into training him, and going into the field to assassinate them himself.
Deadline recently reported that Caitriona Balfe, Rachel Brosnahan and Laurence Fishburne are also among the cast. Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson produce; Malek exec produces.
The film will shoot in several UK locations in the south east, including London, and in multiple European locations including France and Turkey.
The Amateur was originally a 1981 Canadian feature film; the screenplay-writer Robert Littell subsequently adapted it into a novel.
