Filming in Yorkshire

The WitcherAs content creation continues to boom around the UK nations and regions, we take a look at some of the projects that have filmed in Yorkshire in recent months, with the help of Screen Yorkshire and Production Intelligence
 

A major new ITV drama, The Confessions of Frannie Langton, began an 11-week shoot in early August in locations including Wakefield and Hull. Sara Collins has adapted her own 19th century murder mystery novel; the production company is Drama Republic

 


 

All Creatures The reboot of popular drama All Creatures Great and Small has proved a hit for makers Playground Entertainment and Channel 5, and received funding and support from Screen Yorkshire. The second series shot over spring/summer this year. 

 

 

The nostalgic series showcases many Yorkshire locations including  Grassington (which ‘plays’ the village of Darrowby), Broughton Hall, Skipton; Bradford Industrial Museum; The Tetley in Leeds; Ripley Castle; The Green Dragon Inn, Hardraw; The Falcon Inn, Arncliffe; The Ritz Cinema in Thirsk; Newby Hall, Birstwith Hall and Studley Royal Cricket Club in Harrogate; The North Yorkshire Moors Railway; Keighley Station; Scar House Reservoir and Kettlewell.
 

 

 

Gentleman Jack Another returning drama, Gentleman Jack, began a Yorkshire shoot at the end of last year, filming for six months and supported by Screen Yorkshire. The BBC One/HBO period piece comes from Lookout Point and stars Suranne Jones as landowner and industrialist Anne Lister.



The show films widely across the county with previous locations having included Shibden Hall (the historic home where Lister lived); Sutton Park; New by Hall, Fairfax House, Huddersfield, Halifax and Bradford. 

 


 

Emily A new biopic of writer Emily Bronte, simply titled Emily, began filming in various Yorkshire locations including Bradford, Keighley, Howarth (where the Wuthering Heights author lived for nearly 30 years) and Otley.

 

Frances O’Connor directed from her own screenplay with Emma Mackey as Emily. 




 

 

Other productions to have shot in Yorkshire in recent months with support from the Screen Yorkshire team include: The Witcher S2 (including Malham in the Dales); Mission: Impossible - 7 (Levisham and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway); Indiana Jones V (Grosmont and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway) and The Railway Children Return (Oakworth Railway Station, Keighley and Worth Valley Railway). 
 

Later this year, the fifth series of Ackley Bridge will film at St Catherine’s, Holmfield, Halifax.
