Disney+ orders Wedding Season
Disney+ has greenlit romcom action thriller Wedding Season from Dancing Ledge Productions as an original commission for its Star platform with filming due to begin in the autumn.
The eight-episode drama is written by Oliver Lyttelton, who also exec produces alongside Chris Carey, Laurence Bowen and Toby Bruce.
It is produced in association with Jax Media with Lilly Burns, Brooke Posche and Tony Hernandez also exec producing. George Kane directs.
The series follows Katie, a beautiful bride who we meet on her wedding day surrounded by the dead bodies of her new husband and every member of his family.
The police think her lover Stefan did it. Stefan thinks Katie did it. Katie thinks her ex-husband did it. And no one knows for sure what the truth is…
Exec producer Carey said: “Dancing Ledge is dedicated to nurturing new talent and, having started working with Oli early on in his career, we are delighted to now be teaming up with Disney and our producing partners Jax Media to bring his playful, big hearted and wickedly funny Wedding Season scripts to the screen.”
Creator Lyttleton added: “It’s been a thrill and a joy developing Wedding Season with Dancing Ledge, Jax and our brilliant writers’ room, and I can’t imagine a better home for a show this surprising and ambitious than Star on Disney+. I’m also grateful that the production schedule still allows for me to go to five separate weddings before the end of the year.”
