A Boy Called Christmas filming in London
Netflix movie A Boy Called Christmas is filming on location in London, in addition to Lapland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The Father Christmas origin story follows a young boy called Nikolas as he heads to the frozen north to search for his father who is looking for fabled elven village Elfhelm.
Gil Kenan is directing a cast that includes Jim Broadbent, Sally Hawkins and Zoe Colletti.
Kenan also wrote the script with Ol Parker, adapting a book by Matt Haig. The novel is the first in a series, leaving the possibility of a future franchise of movies for Netflix.
All the locations being used for the movie offer filming incentive support. In Finland, feature producers can access a 25% cash rebate when they spend €150,000 locally, while the Czech Republic and Slovakia both offer 20% rebates.
London remains one of the world’s top production hubs.
Studiocanal will release A Boy Called Christmas theatrically in selected international territories and Netflix will make the film available in the rest of the world.
