Panalux joins Pioneer Film Studios as Scottish production hub grows

  • News

Pioneer Panalux has become the latest screen-sector company to join Pioneer Film Studios’ site, as the facility – Scotland’s largest studio complex – aims to become a national production hub.

Panalux, a Panavision company with more than 35 years’ experience in the industry, is a major provider of lighting equipment to the film, television, and entertainment sector.

The new location will help to consolidate the Pioneer Film Studios site as a one-stop production campus, following the Pinewood model.

Since Pioneer Film Studios opened in Glasgow in April 2022, it has been attracting other production-service companies to the 1.2million sq ft site, including Screen Facilities Scotland, Supply2Location, Facilities by ADF, Location One, Freakworks post-production and Film Hawk.

The Scottish film industry continues on an impressive growth trajectory, fuelled by a combination of industry support, infrastructure, supply chain, and creative talent. The industry's steady growth over the past few years has led to a thriving ecosystem for filmmakers, establishing Scotland as a key player in the global film industry.

Jamie McCoy, digital director and co-founder of Pioneer Film Studios, said: “Discussions with the team at Panalux have been quietly happening in the background for a number of months leading to this day.

“From the get-go we were very keen on having Panalux on site and in our first meeting it was clear the feeling was mutual. Having a brand as established and experienced as Panalux on site alongside our other partners really is testament to what we’re building and the good we can do for the industry in Scotland together. We can’t wait to see where the journey leads!”

Mark Furssedonn, managing director EMEA at Panalux, added: “We’re thrilled to be part of the community at Pioneer Film Studios in Glasgow and offer our lighting inventory directly on site. Panalux has a long history of servicing productions in Scotland, and this new alignment further strengthens our ability to support the region’s thriving industry.”
