Stephen Graham films Boiling Point at Space Studios
Filming begins at Space Studios, Manchester today (30 January) on the new TV iteration of Boiling Point, starring Stephen Graham, Vinette Robinson and Hannah Walters.
The lead trio reprise their roles from the award-winning 2021 film; director Philip Barantini also returns to his place in the director’s chair for the 5 x 60 drama. The series is produced by Ascendant Fox and Matriarch Productions, with Made Up Productions, for BBC One.
Other cast returning from the film includes: Ray Panthaki; Gary Lamont; Áine Rose Daly; Taz Skylar; Daniel Larkai; Stephen McMillan; Hannah Traylen and Izuka Hoyle.
Boiling Point picks up six months on from where the film left off and sees sous chef Carly as head chef at her own restaurant, with many of Andy’s original team alongside her. As the pressure mounts to keep the restaurant full, Carly begins to feel the magnitude of responsibility that comes with running her own place.
The series also reunites the film’s co-writer and director Barantini, who will direct episodes one, two and five and co-writer James Cummings, alongside the film’s producers, Hester Ruoff and Bart Ruspoli who all serve as executive producers on the series with Walters and Graham.
Rebecca Ferguson is executive producer and commissioner for the BBC. Director, Mounia Akl joins the team to direct episodes three and four and Graham Drover is the series producer. Dan Caden is the co-writer on episode two, Alex Tenenbaum and Nathaniel Stevens are the writers of episode three and Grace Ofori-Attah is the writer of episode five.
The production designer is Adam Tomlinson, DoP is Matt Lewis, costume designer is Jessica Schofield and the hair and make-up designer is Sue Michael.
Boiling Point’s executive-producing team said: “We are over the moon to get the band back together, along with the creative team of Phil, James and Matt Lewis (DoP) we have our incredible original cast back. Not only that, we are excited to introduce new members to the Boiling Point family. We are immensely grateful to the BBC for giving us this moment and we are all raring to get going on the series.”
