Guy Ritchie begins filming The Gentlemen in London

Guy RtichieProduction gets underway in London and the south-east today, 7 November, on The Gentlemen for Netflix, directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Theo James.

The 8 x 60 series comes from Moonage Pictures and Miramax, and is inspired by the 2019 film of the same name.

Although it is set in the same world as the feature, the fresh iteration features a new set of characters: Theo James leads the cast as Eddie Horniman, the estranged son of an aristocrat who inherits the family estate only to realise that it’s sitting on top of the biggest weed farm in Europe.

The supporting cast includes Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson and Peter Serafinowicz. Giancarlo Esposito and Vinnie Jones, long-time favourites of Ritchie who appeared in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, also appear.

Ritchie will direct the two first episodes of the series and will also serve as creator, executive producer and co-writer with Matthew Read (Moonage).

Ritchie told Netflix: “The world of The Gentlemen is a little bit of me. I’m thrilled that with Netflix, Miramax and Moonage, we have this opportunity to inhabit it once again. We’re looking forward to bringing fans back into that world, introducing new characters and their stories, and I’m excited to be doing it with this extremely talented cast.”
