Van Der Valk to film S3 this month
The third series of Amsterdam-set crime drama Van Der Valk is set to film later this month, with Marc Warren returning as the titular ‘tec.
The run will comprise three, 120-minute episodes and is a co-production from All3Media International, ARD Degeto (Germany), MASTERPIECE (USA), ITV (UK) and NPO (Holland).
Chris Murray continues as lead writer and showrunner alongside co-writer Maria Ward, and Michele Buck returns as executive producer for Company Pictures with NL Film.
Buck said: “We’re delighted that this new season order of Van der Valk has been confirmed by our fantastic co-production partners and can’t wait to return to the streets of Amsterdam to investigate more intriguing cases.
“Chris’s expertise at weaving complex murder mysteries into a storyline infused with warmth, wit and camaraderie is second-to-none, and it’s an honour to have three more instalments within which we can delve further into the world of Commissaris Van der Valk and his team.”
Louise Pedersen, CEO at All3Media International, added, “With its high production values, suspenseful storylines and beautiful backdrops, Van der Valk has quickly established itself as a standout success globally, and we’re thrilled to reunite with our co-production partners on a brand-new season.
"Long-running premium dramas are always high on the wish-list for our clients, so this new season commission will allow us to build on Van der Valk’s international appeal even further.”
