Is this a Michael Fassbender I see before me?

Is this a Michael Fassbender I see before me?

Something wicked this way comes as the new feature film version of Macbeth gears up to begin production in late January 2014. (As opposed to tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow).

Here at The Knowledge we are full o’ the milk of human kindness, so would like to provide a recap for you all on this story of ambition, evil and insanity.

Michael Fassbender takes the lead as the anguished and tortured usurper while Marion Cotillard replaces Natalie Portman and will thus descend into guilt-crazed madness as Lady Macbeth.

Cotillard is not the only Academy award-winner behind the big screen Shakespeare tragedy: it comes from the much-garlanded producers of The King’s Speech: Emile Sherman and Iain Canning of See Saw Films. Australian director Justin Kurzel (Snowtown) is calling the shots on this bloody tale, while StudioCanal is providing a large chunk of the finance along with Film4.

We say it has Oscar written all over it. And if it doesn’t, there’ll be double, double, toil and trouble.

What do you think? Could this be the role that lands an Oscar for Fassbender? And who would you cast as the three witches? Let us know by leaving your comments below or via our Facebook page.
