Indies to follow special forces with Tom Hardy narrating

Soho Studios Entertainment and Two Rivers Media are to reunite on a Paramount+ series about the SAS.

Three-part Special Forces: Most Daring Missions will be narrated and exec produced by Taboo star Tom Hardy and will focus on Britain’s elite unit, widely regarded as one of the world’s best Special Forces outfits.

Each episode will celebrate a different real-life assignment undertaken by an elite military force, including ‘Operation Nimrod’, the Iranian Embassy siege in London.

Soho Studios founder and chief creative officer Ian Lamarra and Two Rivers managing director Alan Clements exec produce alongside Hardy. Robert Neill (Cassius X: Becoming Ali) is series producer and David Whitney (Dogs of War) is series director.

The series was ordered by Paramount+ factual and non-scripted commissioning editor Federico Ruiz and is expected to launch on Paramount+ platform this year.

Soho and Two Rivers have previously co-produced an Agatha Christie expedition series, Travels with Agatha – led by Poirot actor Sir David Suchet – which was acquired by Channel 4.

Lamarra said: “This brand has so much potential for further series, we can look at Navy Seals, the Marine Corps, Green Berets etc. Tom Hardy is the perfect narrator for this series. He is incredibly knowledgable, absolutely passionate and respectful of the subject with his voice adding a really premium flavour”

Ruiz added: “We are really excited to have one of Hollywood’s biggest actors, and one of Britain’s greatest exports, narrating this brand new series. When you watch their extraordinary stories, it’s clear that the real-life exploits and bravery of these soldiers would put most silver screen superheroes to shame.”

International distribution will be handled by Sphere Abacus.

Soho Studios, which launched last year received backing from Asylum Entertainment Group earlier this year. It is also behind ITV1’s true-crime series The Playboy Bunny Murder. Two Rivers is behind docs including Frankie Boyle’s Tour of Scotland and The Trial of Alex Salmond for BBC2.
