2010 was not a great year for the facilities business, with numerous closures within and beyond Soho”s facilities continues to be busy. However, UK companies continue to take a decent share of the global SFX business. Prospects for 2011 are relatively good, particularly now that Soho”s fortunes are so intertwined with those of the global business, a situation reinforced by the recent acquisition of Rushes by US-based facilities group Deluxe Entertainment Services.

A big development in 2011 will be the continued development of MediaCityUK at Salford Quays. The Peel Media-owned site managed to sign up ITV as a client at the end of 2010, which is a great boost as it prepares to be fully-operational. There”s no question that the site looks set to provide a major production hub for the North of England, something which will ultimately benefit the UK as a whole.
