The site has provided a filming backdrop for a variety of projects over the past five decades.

London’s iconic Battersea Power Station has a new filming partner, with Location Collective adding the behemoth edifice to its portfolio.

The Art Deco power station is one of the largest brick buildings in the world, and instantly recognisable on the Thames riverbank, with its four huge chimneys standing at 101m high. The site has been extensively restored and refurbished over recent years, and now houses retail and leisure facilities, and new green spaces across the 42-acre estate.

Over the past five decades, the power station has hosted many film and TV productions and photographic shoots, including Pink Floyd’s Animals album cover (1977) and feature films such as The Beatles’ Help! (1965), Superman (1983) and The Dark Knight (2008).

James Hanford, head of acquisitions at Location Collective said: “We are incredibly proud to be working with this London landmark location, to bring a range of feature film, television, and photographic hires over the coming years. In our 17-year history we have brought filming to some of the capital’s most iconic, historic and prominent properties, and we are very excited to get to work alongside the team at Battersea Power Station at what is arguably the most recognisable of them all.”

Sam Cotton, head of asset management at Battersea Power Station Development Company, added: “Our partnership with Location Collective is an exciting opportunity to expand filming at Battersea Power Station, as a new generation of artists and filmmakers are inspired by the neighbourhood.

“The regeneration of the landmark has retained and restored the heritage elements of the building, whilst new retail and leisure uses within the Power Station, and contemporary architecture which surround the landmark, create a unique and eye-catching environment to film within. We look forward to continuing Battersea Power Station’s legacy as a hub for art, culture and film.”

Recent Location Collective credits include: Gladiator 2, Baby Reindeer, Wicked, Slow Horses, Silo, The Crown, Mission Impossible, Back to Black, Wicked Little Letters, Mr Bates vs the Post Office, Supacell, Black Mirror and Heartstopper.

In 2019, Location Collective launched the company’s studio business. The OMA Studio Group now encompasses 480,000 sq ft of production facilities including flagship sites OMA One Film Studios, OMA X Film Studios and OMA V Film Studios.
