Inbetweeners Movie Targets Autumn Release Date

When you’;re hot, you’;ve got to make the most of it. So it’;s no real surprise to see E4′;s hit comedy The Inbetweeners being reinvented as a movie (even though TV to film transfers are notoriously hard to pull off). Hot off the back of its recent success at The British Comedy Awards, the Damon Beesley/Iain Morris franchise was filming key sequences this week and will make its big screen debut in the autumn.

The movie adaptation will see the main characters (four socially-awkward sixth formers) go off on holiday to Greece (Crete) for what is being described as “a lad’;s holiday”.

Aside from two TV specials which have been commissioned by C4, this is likely to be the last we see of The Inbetweeners – because it’;s the view of the producers that the concept has run its course. However it’;s not the end of the story for Beesley and Morris who have been asked to create a pilot for ABC Studios in the US. Not only that, but they have also been given the go ahead to come up with a new project for ABC, which is about as good as it gets in the TV biz.

The Inbetweeners is produced by Bwark, the indie company set up by Beesley and Morris in 2004 after meeting at C4.
