C4’s Dickson Quits To Join Shine’s Dragonfly

Channel 4 Deputy Head of Documentaries Simon Dickson, a long-serving member of the broadcaster”s commissioning team, is leaving to join Dragonfly Productions, the Shine-owned producer of One Born Every Minute and The Family.
Dickson has been at C4 since 2002, during which time he has established himself as a key member of the team.

Commenting on his departure, C4”s Head of Documentaries Hamish Mykura said: “Simon has been an excellent Commissioning Editor and a great colleague and all of us at C4 wish him well in his new career in the production sector.”
Dickson becomes Creative Director of Dragonfly this summer. The move shouldn’;t be too much of a culture shock since he has been directly involved in a number of the indie”s recent projects. Indeed, he just commissioned The Hotel, a Dragonfly factual series which is due to transmit in May 2011 (about life behind the scenes at a busy hotel).

Dickson will report to Dragonfly Managing Director Sanjay Singhal, who said: “Simon has a brilliant track record in commissioning shows that are talked-about, critically respected, and rate well. His knack of spotting compelling stories and subjects along with the inherent feel he has for our key shows makes him a fantastic addition to the team.”
