Some movie-making musical chairs this week. With Sam Mendes now ready to roll as director of the new James Bond movie Skyfall, he is no longer able to direct On Chesil Beach, the big screen adaptation of Ian McEwan”s novel.

Not to worry though – because Mike Newell has been lined up to take over when he finishes shooting Great Expectations. Sam Mendes will remain involved as a producer.
