UK shoot imminent for starry cast
An international shoot is well underway on The Death and Life of John F Donovan, starring Kit Harington, Jessica Chastain, Jacob Tremblay, Susan Sarandon, Natalie Portman and Kathy Bates.
The feature will arrive in Prague in early March – having been filming in Canada and New York – before landing in London towards the end of March for a further five weeks or so before production wraps.
The film centres on a young actor who years previously had struck up a pen-pal correspondence with his idol, a famous American TV star. Some ten years after the star’s death, the actor reflects on the relationship, as set against a backdrop of the changing face of fame and the film industry.
The film marks the English-language debut of French-Canadian director Xavier Dolan, calling the shots from a screenplay he wrote with Jacob Tierney. The Death and Life of John F Donovan was developed by Lyla Films in Montreal, working with Warp Films in the UK.
