Jack Lowden as Morrissey films mid-April
A five-week shoot begins on 11 April on Steven (working title), a biopic of The Smiths’ lead singer Morrissey.
Jack Lowden plays the lead in the film, which comes from Honlodge Productions and which is due to film mostly in Stretford, Manchester. The exact timing of the shoot was confirmed quite late on, as the actor had only a brief window of opportunity in his schedule before moving on to Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk.
Mark Gill directs Steven from a screenplay he wrote with William Thacker; Baldwin Li and Orian Williams produce with Alan Graves on board as co-producer. PI subscribers can log in for details of the production designer, line producer, casting director and location manager.
Lowden will segue neatly on to Dunkirk, which is gearing up for a summer shoot largely based in France with a brief stint in the UK. The film recounts the extraordinary evacuation of Allied forces from the beaches and harbour of Dunkirk, northern France, in 1940.
