Major Hollywood drama to film at Pinewood Wales
Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter's next project is one of the first major productions to move into Pinewood's shiny new facility in south Wales.
The Bastard Executioner is a feature length pilot for an historical drama series set during the reign of Edward II.Â
Sutter, who has previously worked as a producer, writer and director on The Shield, has been in Wales scouting potential locations including Caerphilly Castle (pictured).Â
It's a great coup for the new studio base - the production carries some considerable Hollywood heft: Destined for delivery to FX, it is produced by Fox 21, Imagine TV and FX Productions, with Imagine's Brian Grazer exec producing alongside Sutter and Francie Calfo. Â
Seasoned US TV helmer Paris Barclay (Sons of Anarchy, The Good Wife, Extant, Glee) produces and directs.
From Tuesday 26 January, subscribers to Production Intelligence can also see the shoot dates, line producer and casting director (which is not the same as erroneously published on some other websites) with further updates to follow nearer the time of filming.
